Rough Selection
We critically study features like fractures, inclusion, hardness, refractive index, cleavage planes to evaluate the potential a stone has to offer.
Slicing and Preforming
Experts mark areas detrimental to gem and remove it by a thin diamond tipped saw blade. Then grinding the stone to a basic shape results in a preform
Dopping
Preforms are attached to a brass rod called dop, using an adhesive such as a high temperature wax. Then we are ready to begin faceting the gem
Faceting
Flat disks called laps rotate at operator controlled speed to grind the stone to shape and facet.Debris is flushed with a water drip system
